Whew! We ARE getting over the flu!
I had it only in the sense of having an upset stomach and was extra tired. ALL last week! So no blogging or much else besides driving JP around, and around, and around! Well, I also was good enough to go to Galena on Saturday for my Block of the Month and Bernina Embroidery Club.
But this week it hit JP. In a more exacting way…. the FLU! He was down on the couch for Wednesday & Thursday. Phil had a lighter version but w/ the stomach upset and fever. Both are better today.
Meanwhile, I haven’t painted a bit yet! I did get extra cleaning done and preparations for Thanksgiving. I figured that each day I needed to do a lot, not knowing if I’d be hit with this version of the flu tomorrow.
Today I finished cleaning the bathroom, it is the zone for Flylady this week. Each month it gets a bit better. This is extra cleaning, not my weekly Home Blessing cleaning in there.
I also made my Make Ahead Gravy for next week. I am allowing mom to bring mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving because they are one of Phil’s favorite foods and he has been deprived of potatoes for 18 months or more. (Probably near 22 months because I gave up the heavy carbs before totally doing the HG eating plan.)
JP got back to school work after 2 days off. I am reading For Whom The Bell Tolls aloud and we do 20th Century History together. He is reading about Albert Einstein and enjoys that book. When he likes a book, I get the highlights fed back to me!
After that and more… I made a new name tag for quilt guild. K thinks my other one looks like a stuck a coaster on myself. Mostly b/c I’ve made about 6 sets of coasters! LOL This one reflects my love of Quilting Arts…..
The picture of K & JP is from 2005, some misc rick-rack, odd snaps, a scrapbook metal piece tied on w/ fiber, some fiber, various thread stitches. Fiber-stitched edge using coordinating turquoise embroidery thread. The background piece is old linen I found …. probably from an auction box… and has a great texture. I think I’ll like using more of it….
I embroidered 2 more pillowcases for Shirley tonight. I think this must put it over 50 since June! She sews them to match the recipient and I add a name or saying.
Phil has the crops in and this week finished applying the anhydrous fertilizer. The company has limited the amount he can use this fall because of shortages. The cost is out. the. roof!
Early in the week, we had nice temps. I worked in the pond a bit, Phil had helped me on Sunday, then I cleaned the filter again on Monday. Even tho I had cleaned all the outside windows when I put up the storm windows a few weeks ago, the east living room window needed more work. I took out the screens (they can stay in all year) and washed screens and the inside layer of window. I guess this is a favorite place for spiders! Plus being along the lane, collects lots of dust!
Now the week is ending very windy and cold! Wind gusts one day to 30 mph were only surpassed the next day up to 40 mph. Brrr… Sometimes I didn’t want to look out the windows as seeing the trees blow made me cold.
What do you think?
