What a terrific day today! My SL online friend, MM9, had asked for help to fix her son’s well-loved sock monkey. I volunteered and today they came to the farm to visit my newly invented monkey hospital.
I assured the dear monkey owner that the monkey couldn’t feel a thing as I worked. I added some stuffing and closed the holes with needle and thread.
His biggest hole was in his back so I made a vest for him. The back of the vest is sewed to the monkey completely and the front of the vest is just sewed down on the sides. The front of the vest opens w/ a velcro tab so dear owner can still see the outline of the heart stitched on his front.
It was such a treat to make them so happy and to spend a few short hours in dear fellowship with another homeschooling mom. She is a treasure!
Phil helped out with a visit to see some baby pigs and the dear children were delighted to hold one for a picture. We then saw the big pigs in the finishing building. Her ds #2 was an eager one so we walked allll the way to the other end to see them all!
Then the children got a tractor ride with Phil while I finished sewing and we mom’s got warm inside. She says they pay good money for farm tours and I suggested she return here for free.
I snuggled a warm & cuddly 7 month old girl. Ahhhh…..
I had a little 5 y/o helper to get me thread or more stuffing. She was delighted w/ a ribbon for her wrist.
I enjoyed seeing an eager 7 y/o who wanted to ride and see and hold the pig.
…And one smiling 9 y/o with a whole dear friend to sleep with tonight.
You are THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a hero! I hope you sleep well tonight knowing how happy you made him. I’ll let you know when they start begging to go back. π
Joyce, YOU ROCK!!! I’ve been following this story since Sarah first voiced a plea for help, and I have tears in my eyes knowing that you were able to help breathe new life into this special monkey friend. What a blessing you are!!!
How nice of you Joyce. That should have been a fun day. Didn’t you have one of those sock Monkeys that grandma made?
Sarah, Are they begging yet? π
Monica, I, too, thought he was beyond repair but really I was surprised as I went that it was working! You should have seen the kids watching. So cute!
Aunt E, Mom had mentioned that Grandma had made a sock monkey. I vaguely remember it. I know the features were pretty worn when it got to me. Did your house have one, too?
The official socks were made near me in Rockford, IL originally. I think that is fun!
Awwww~ how incredibly sweet.
and Christ like.
You da best, Jules.
Shine on! π
