Just had to tell you that spring has sprung! Personally, I get more excited when my daffodils bloom but….
Gpa M came to borrow our gas tank that we use on the grill. He uses it for his turkey cooker which is really used for cooking syrup. (…or for cooking sweet corn depending on the season.)
He tapped 2 maple trees yesterday and today had 7 gallons of sap!! (See… I said it sprung a leak!) And the tap came out of one tree or something or other malfunctioned so he should have had more!
Wow!
JP likes it. He likes it even more if someone else cooks the pancakes.
Do you tap maple trees? Is it flowing where you are? Do you like it?
10 taps, 4 trees, cooked down the first quart.
This is our favorite family project. Problem is: through the whole evaporation process, I crave waffles.
How many years have you done it?
I have a few links that might be of use:

Stop by my back porch for a visit, if you’d like.
We tapped last week, but then got a nasty deep freeze, so the sap is just beginning again.
No!!! Wish I could, though!
Reminds me of “Little House in the Big Woods!” Oh how I loved that part of the story!!!!
oh, my boys would be so jealous! All 4 of them, LOL! Q has wanted to tap maple trees for years….alas, we’ve never lived where that is really feasible. …sigh… enjoy!!
You know, those darn “Little House” books… they lead to more adventures.
Do you know how to make that maple sugar candy that we used to get from Great Uncle Charlie? I don’t suppose you remember him. I love maple syrup! I love waffles too, which we have often, with fake cheap syrup 😦
No, I don’t know how to make the candy. Not high on my priority list either. 😉
Of course I remember Unc Charlie & Aunt Irma. And her little crocheted whatevers. 🙂 I remember being there and the visiting was SO boring but when the little cousins came, they showed us the kitties in the barn. 😀
I’m so glad the “leak” is in the maple trees. When I saw your title, I thought it was pipes in the house or something!
I don’t even know how to do that… or if I have maple trees in my yard. Hmm… have to check into that! But I know it’s flowing here as a friend did it.
