Not because I had nothing to do, but because I needed to go….
I went to a quilt show in the next big town on Saturday. Totally worth the hour + drive and the construction traffic to get there.
I have a ton of house stuff going on but wanted to get this up for you. I’ll just post a few pictures and if you want to see more, you’ll have to invite yourself over. 😉
The first reason to get out my camera! A Latte’ book quilt and the best I have ever seen.
This book is commonly taught by Bernina dealers to teach a ton about machine embroidery techniques. What made this one exceptional was her perfect color choices for fabrics and thread.
One near me didn’t even know it was embroidery… thought it was applied lace. All of the design is machine embroidery and machine quilting. Beautiful!
There was a special display by a national art quilt group and the theme was orchids! Stunning!! I put silk flower orchids on a quilted card for my parents and we all love orchids so this was great to see.
I loved this next quilt because with the cream and tan fabric additions, the 80’s country blue fabrics don’t look so bad to me. 🙂 I have a nice stash of fabrics like this! haha
Gorgeous tiny paper piecing always gets me! Done with pinks… a winner! 🙂 There was also another quilt from this pattern with a safari theme which was also stuning.
I was drawn to these mixed media little quilts combined on the black background for a beautiful garden-themed wallhanging.
Here are 2 of the squares:
After viewing the quilts, I browsed the various quilt shops that were there. I always enjoying visiting shops not in my area as each has their own flavor. I found some things I “needed”. 🙂
What do you think?
