K usually asks before she comes home if I have projects for her time at home. Especially with the extra day she got over the 4th. Yeah for Monday holidays. 🙂
My list:
- plant flowers along the front porch (it is embarrassingly terrible there) I bought 2 flats of sale flowers on Friday night.
- go over the blue fabrics I have pulled from my stash for my Farm Fest retreat with Elinor in 2 weeks.
She added her list:
- hang corkboards that she gave me for my birthday… totally cool!! Wait until you see!!! 🙂
We collaborated and made more entries to the list:
- hang wooden ladder in studio
- look for old barn boards or something for a thread rack
- make said thread rack
- go shopping for new kitchen towels and tablecloths to match what will be my new valances, yet to be made
- watch Emma from Netflix together
- make extra food for K’s lunches this week
Sick, sick minds, I’d say!! 🙂 She was only home for 45 hours!

She got home about 8:30 Saturday night and we were with the kitties so she drove to the barn upon arriving home. Sunday morning dawned with her sleeping system forgetting it was vacation and was up early. (At least it was easy for her to find books from the studio shelves & drawers.)
.
.
On Sunday morning, we sorted my blue fabrics and then got the hair-brained ideas for the rest of the collaborated list.

This is midst cutting. I need FQs for the class and those are in the heap on the corner. I'm making another pile of leftover FQs, a 1 1/4" strip from each, and then the small pieces left over. This IS making a dent!! 🙂
We had a shopping list and a search & find list.
Then dinner out with the grands.
After lunch, we got some groceries and came home.

And we watched a hummingbird!! It was here for several minutes LOVIN the snack from JP's monstrous hollyhock patch!
Then K & I headed south for shopping. Not far but that meant smaller stores as well so NO GO on the new towels and tablecloths. Hmpf! We did get 6 of the 27 cent fish for the pond outside. (As of today, all are still there but they didn’t come up to find the food I gave them this morning.)

Once home, we changed clothes and went hunting for barn boards. All of us. Nina & JP rode in the back of the truck so Phil stayed on backroads. Nina really prefers shotgun seating. :eyeroll: I guess she called it first… on the way home K & JP were in the back and I got to sit in the middle next to Phil. We stopped to kiss just to make the kids sick. heehee

A very sad, dilapidated, worn out, picked over by the neighbors 😦 ….. barn for Robyn….

That evening we enjoyed
our bonfire. We were done with projects for the day!!
.
On Monday, I was made to choose the most important projects to work on. Hmpf! 😉 First up, after playing with the kitties, was the ladder.
.
I washed, K ran her camera phone…..
.

While it dried in the sunshine, we hung the corkboards.

- Happy Birthday to ME! Oh yes. It is stunning!! Be jealous. 🙂 But she’s my daughter and I’m keeping her!!
.
.
Then we got Phil to drill holes and place screws in the cement to hold the ladder brackets. (no small feat for us or him!!)
Hauled in ladder. My job was to hold the back door open and I did a fine job of that!! 😉
.
.
I think I’ll hang my quilt samples there for storage and some decor. Isn’t that funny… I didn’t clean up for you.

Ok… take note of the old corn crib door. K & I had thought of adding dowel rods to make a thread rack. But I’m not sure it looks OK in there after all so I’m not going to drill holes in it until I’m sure. Your thoughts?
.

After lunch, grilled zukes & steaks with lots of extra to send home with K, we made taco meat and fixed the extras for K to have quesadillas for lunches this week. I watched Emma while K took a short nap. She had leftover Chinese food for an early supper and headed back home about 5:40. We were thankful she reported in by 8:30; home and the traffic wasn’t bad!! Yeah!
.
.
I must say…. we did pretty good with the lists. Of course, we didn’t plant flowers and that was the biggest job on the list. But Phil helped with that on Tuesday morning so now about 1/5 of the front area looks tolerable.

Love it!!!
I think that the door thing (the slatted wood thing below the ladder, right/??) will look so different with several rolls/spools of thread in different colors that it’s hard to tell from what it looks like now to what it will look like then. I think it would be okay.
LOVE the cork boards!! Way to go, K!!! And the ladder looks great! I like the rustic-ness of it all. Very cool.
Sounds like you guys got a lot done in the time you had — hooray 🙂
🙂 love good productive weekends! Emma is one of my favorite movies!!! Slightly jealous..
You got a lot of work done. I’d love to have barn wood…
Wow, what a productive weekend, and it’s always such fun being with those you love most!
I thought it hilarious you kissed in the front seat of the truck! Our kids would have hated it too, but that’s what keeps us going strong!
I really like the cork boards and the ladder too.
