Not quite what March usually looks like around here. P is lamenting that he doesn’t ever remember this much snow being on the ground in March and underneath all the lament is the spring-fever of wanting & needing to get spring jobs — pre-planting — done.
He said there is a chance of some melting at the end of the week. It is supposed to be in the 20’s! I said that snow doesn’t melt in the 20’s but he said if the sun is strong it will. So. We hope.
Yes, we can hope, but then, we won’t want it to thaw too fast. I think we have some major flooding issues this year. I feel bad those who will be affected by it. No one around here has remembered ever having a winter like this one. We are sooooooo ready for warm weather!
I’m really ready for warmer temps too! It will be a long melt for my daffodils to appear, I think.
I’ve been thinking of that amount of snow melting and the possibility of flooding as we’ve been dealing with flooding especially some of the farms around here.
Yes, there is talk about flooding with all this snow. Even though we aren’t that far from the Mississippi River, we are on higher ground and won’t have much problem with flooding. It doesn’t get to the house, the creek will just rise. The creek has gotten out of the banks before but it doesn’t stay out long… only hours, not days. So we are safe. Those that are closer the river will have a hard time, I assume. Many springs there is flooding from the river and I would think that this much, melting so quickly, will be hazardous.
