A quiet day with just the 2 of us. Mostly a regular work day here at home.
A favorite supper of his: sloppy joes and mac & cheese in the Instant Pot. Easy for me.
One of my double petunia plants. Some blooms on the same plant are more white and some more purple.
Yearly photo of how tall the corn is on the 4th of July!
He is more than pleased that he had tassels on corn on June 30th! The first he remembers seeing them appear in June!
Amazing clouds that evening!
Finally the clouds started to empty and we got a bit that day.
Oh J, beautiful pictures especially of you and farmer P!
Thanks! HAHA!! Just in our plain old work day wear. No fancy photos here. 😉
I see I’m not the only one that likes to take pictures of clouds. Who made up that saying about knee high by the 4th of July.?. Do you think the corn has improved that much to grow so tall? Those petunias are gorgeous, the color and the double part.
Oh how we used to moan when my dad would come home from a business trip to CA, had spent time with his family (our cousins), and only return home (to Ohio) with photos of clouds and trees…. no family photos!! Just make sure you include people in some photos. 🙂
Yes, The Farmer says that corn has improved and we plant earlier than in decades past. However, one still hears all the non-farmers using that line! (I’m from a non-farm family and not around here so that started the photos on the 4th!!) This year we’ve just had stellar weather with plenty of rain and extra heat in June. We were fortunate to get all our crops planted in the early window that we had this spring. To balance out life, prices are very low!
Around here we get pretty excited if our corn is knee high by the Fourth of July. We typically harvest early September .
I’m glad you chimed in, M! We plant the end of April – first week of May (well, that is the goal) and harvest in October & November. I’d rather have the late nights in September. 🙂
