I’m Jules and I’m so glad you’ve come to my blog.
I have been married to My Farmer (P) since 1983 and we live on the family farm that is 117 years old. He raises corn, soybeans, and wheat in variations of no-tilling or minimum tillage. He operates our farrow-to-finish hog operation as well. The hog production is lessening as we have more birthdays and P is farming on his own.
We have 2 children. Our daughter (K) is 29 y/o and a 2009 graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She now works as the Wedding Gown manager for THE place to have your gown preserved in Chicago. She also sells her hats & other accessories by private order.
Our son (JP) is 22 y/o. He is a multi-year senior attending a 4-yr university to finish his bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Computer Engineering & Design. He works with a private electronics/security business on breaks and is alternating semesters between the university and an internship as required. It has all been great experience for him! Graduation is on target for December 2016.
My hobby, now turned job, is quilting! I love paper-piecing, machine quilting, and machine embroidery. My favorite domestic machine is my Bernina 200E. But there are other machines in the collection. 😉 I am working on finishing my UFOs and projects I’ve already purchased.
I am the owner of an HQ Fusion long-arm machine for quilting. With this I’ve moved into finishing others’ quilts as well as making quilts, start-to-finish, for non-quilting customers. Business is flourishing and I’m loving it! It is fun to see all the other quilts come through my studio. I specialize in custom freehand quilting but will quilt as requested whether custom or a pantograph or a meander. Great fun and new friends!
I am reversing my fibromyalgia with the guaifenesin protocol and getting so much better!! I’ve been on it since November 2005 and now get so busy I don’t write about the FM much. November 2014 update post here.
I enjoy being online and the computer. I hope you’ll leave a comment and chat with me. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!!
Hi, your blog is “connected” to mine in some miraculous way! I organize weaving and natural dyeing workshops in Oaxaca, Mexico, in the Zapotec village of Teotitlan del Valle. Perhaps your daughter and her friends might be interested. University students and faculty members have come down for independent studies, too. I am also holding a documentary filmmaking workshop in the village at the end of January 2009. I live on an organic farm in NC, and am an administrator at UNC Chapel Hill. Thanks for sharing your world. -Norma Hawthorne
Hi friend! Thanks so much for your great comment on my blog! I actually have also reversed my FMS, though I’m not sure I’ll ever be fully in remission. Some days I don’t stay in balance, and the FMS is there to remind me to get back on the wagon! But I least I’m not MISERABLE like full-blown FMS can make you. 🙂
I also love to quilt! I’m kind of self-taught, so I make a lot of mistakes. I also don’t have a quilting machine, so my quilting is usually either by hand or a little messy on my regular-old sewing machine I got when I was 19. I wish that I lived near you and could just come watch you work!
My kids are younger… 7 and 5. I’m having sooo much fun with them and loving being their mommy. We don’t homeschool but we might in the future. I hope we can keep in touch!
Love, Betsy
Great looking family and a great hobby: quilting. It is so satisfying and so much fun.
Goodness. We have a lot in common.
Hi,
I was checking the internet looking for some information on troubleshooting a Bernina auto thread cutting problem and I read your comment. Did you get it fixed.
The Artista 200 has a magnet just to the right and below the thread take up lever that clamps down on the thread as it is being cut. If you don’t aggressively thread the machine you can miss getting the thread between the magnets and the needle will come unthreaded. It is also possible that the magnetic or stepping motor is failing but it’s probably more of a threading issue.
Just thought you would like to know if you have already solved the problem.

Enjoyed reading your nine year guai anniversary story. Your quilting looks marvelous and your family just charming. I am so happy you are getting well! Keep on keeping on.
