This weekend I dyed 1/2 yard pieces of fabric in every green, turquiose, blueish color I have. I’d like to choose one to dye my tablecloths. I have the print for the valances and these new dishes. The plates are white on top where the food goes and the slate blue/turqouise on the bottom. The bowls have the color inside and white outsides. Obviously, the tablecloth won’t be touching the valances but I would like it all to get along. My walls are a pale blue and staying that way. I have some turquoise trivets and spatulas type of stuff.
And here are the fabrics with the plate on top —
The fabric is at a pretty heavy concentration of dye so I could do some of those darker ones a bit lighter.
Please vote in the comments section so I can narrow this down and figure something out. I’ll be back to work this week so some weekend, I’d like to dye the tablecloths and get my kitchen switched over to new decor. Thanks!!
{D is called chartreuse! Doesn’t that look weird for that color? I just left it in for part of the 10.}
I like i and c, or g and a if you like the lighter colors, but d would be great for fall!
What kind of fabric are the table cloths? Are you sewing them yourself?
At first I bought a bamboo/rayon blend thinking of less wrinkles. But it was barely wide enough once I prewashed it. So I bought 60″ wide good quality cotton that is PFD (prepared for dyeing). I’m hoping to make 3. After dyeing they will just need hems on the ends. I’ll hem the sides (selvages) if I’m feeling enough OCD that day! 🙂
It would be so much easier if I saw this in person. 😉 Personally I would stay away from the solid blues as you already have the blue dishes. I would go with the green or gold “d or e” or if you really wanted a blue, use one of the darker ones like “c”.
In relation to the plate I might not use d or e. With the patterned fabric I might not use d, h or j or maybe not e. I’m not really helping, but I think all the reast look good with both.
What Lori said. As for my choices, I really like F and E
I’m going to be completely different and say A!
1st vote is for G. 2nd choice would be F. Several would look good. I stayed away from lighter because you mentioned light blue walls. Let us know what you pick.
I vote c. I like the darker to set off your dishes. Good luck!
ORRR, you could piece your tablecloth, quilt style, and use solids of various colors for placemats. Fuse fabrics with Fast 2 Fuse, then serge the edges. I just want to make you work harder!! Hey, Deloa Jones is coming to Spring Valley Mn, next weekend , Sept 7-9 for longarm classes. How far are you from there. I’m taking a class on Sunday afternoon.
Oh, so funny, Jean! I’ll end up piecing some hot pad type things to hold hot dishes but not really interested in piecing placemats! 🙂
Spring Valley is 4 1/2 hrs says google maps.
Email me how the class goes – I’d like to take one of her classes sometime. (nice to hear from you – thanks for your vote!)
I like E and I both and can’t decide for sure. I keep trying to picture the white playing in there, and because of that I think the lighter colors, except the bright green, won’t work as well. But then, I also might do napkins or placemats or hotpads/trivets or *something* in that gorgeous print.
Can’t wait to see it!
G would be my first choice and A. You could make different napkins with some of the other colors. Most vases and flowers would look nice. Keep the print for some spots of color.
And you know that I won’t make a suggestion because I am the one who always needs color help!! Looks like it wouldn’t help anyway — everyone is choosing something different. Guess that is why you would never find two kitchens exactly alike. 🙂
I thought you were quilting a tablecloth with all those lovely colors. That is what I would do.
